Description

Gremlins 2: The New Batch (Warner Bros., 1990), Screen Matched Animatronic Foreground Gremlin. Original screen matched latex foam and rubber animatronic foreground Gremlin from Joe Dante's Gremlins 2: The New Batch expertly studio-painted in deep golden brown with shades of orange, amber, and green and embedded with hard rubber teeth and prosthetic grade plastic eyes with black slit pupils, constructed to move with electronics. Hands feature long clawed fingernails. Measures approx. 30" x 23" x 24". Bottom half is exposed and attached to mechanical fixtures for puppetry and animation. Animatronic elements including remote control triggers present but untested. Mounted on an 8" x 12" wooden base labeled "SECONDARY FOREGROUND / MATT TYPE E9" on a strip of tape. Animatronic foreground Gremlins are exceedingly rare, with only 3-4 of this style known to exist. This particular puppet was used in a deleted scene showcasing the Gremlins' takeover of the Clamp Center. It appears directly in front of the camera wearing a witch hat and lets out a trademark Gremlin cackle. Originally sculpted by Steve Wang, the creature crew special effects supervisor under Rick Baker, this is a production-used specimen exhibiting some production use, handling, and expected aging, with light tearing in foam latex where armature penetrates the arm. In recently professionally restored condition. From the collection of the Gremlins Museum. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
