Gregory Peck "Sam Varner" Cowboy Hat from The Stalking Moon (National General, 1968). Made of tan felt with brown leather hatband and buckle. With remnant of costume label on the internal leather sweatband. Worn by Gregory Peck in his role as "Sam Varner" in the film directed by Academy Award-nominated Robert Mulligan, who Peck had worked with before on To Kill a Mockingbird. The distinctive "chip" on the right edge of the front brim is visible in many key sequences in the film as well as the primary publicity images. The hat is dusty, with some tiny moth signs under the right brim. The hat's leather hatband is scuffed, and the hat shows some overall soiling and handling from use on the production.
