Description
Ghost (1990), Miniature Subway Car. Original miniature subway car designed for special effects scenes in Ghost, constructed of acrylic walls with applied metallic-colored tape strips, a vacuformed plastic roof panel with aluminum lining, and a black-painted wood base with 8-metal wheels fixed to axle rods and mounted on 2-bogies. Decorated with paper cutouts of an interior train station and passengers to one side of the subway car, New York City transit signage exterior decals, spray-painted grooved model kit parts, small levers near the base, and painted acrylic rigid bridge plates with plastic add-ons. (3) tube lights with desiccated batteries are housed inside the model for a battery-powered mechanism. With additional battery mechanism. This subway car appears in Sam Wheat's (Patrick Swayze) first encounter with the subway ghost (Vincent Schiavelli), where Sam is dangling off the side of the car in a groundbreaking display of visual effects for its time. Measures 47.25" x 8.5" x 11". Exhibits signs of production age and wear, including dings, peeling to tape, tears to roof panel, smudges, and soiling. Battery-powered mechanism has not been tested. Provenance: From the collection of acclaimed American filmmaker Jerry Zucker, who directed the film. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
