Description

Get Smart (CBS TV, 1965-1970), Gayle Hunnicut "Octavia" Internal Robot Components Prop Device. Vintage original prop device with mechanical components to simulate the internal workings of a robot, in this case Octavia (Gayle Hunnicut), KAOS group's robot operative in Get Smart. Consisting of a handmade black-painted wooden box with carved out interior and hinged metal lid that opens to reveal an array of mechanical components including pink-painted gear trains and pinion wheel, transistors and capacitors, a headphone jack, and other mechanisms including an emergency "Destroy" button to create an internal organ system for an android. This gag prop appears in the Season 2 Episode, "It Takes One to Know One", in which Octavia attempts to take down another of CONTROL's No. 2 Men, as is her central task at the behest of the evil KAOS organization. This time her target is Hymie (Dick Gautier), but she quickly develops feelings for him and decides to self-destruct rather than go through with her mission of destroying him. The mechanical box can be seen when Octavia and Hymie share a tender moment just before Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) informs Hymie that Octavia is an android operative working for KAOS. The components reappear right before Octavia engages the self-destruct button. Exhibiting production wear and age including scuffs to the external wood and metal and glue residue from where the component was affixed to costume, measuring 6.75" x 6.75" and including untested power connection affixed to an internal battery. Internal components present very nicely. Lot also includes a polaroid photo of Gautier as Hymie and is signed by Barbara Feldon, who played Agent 99 in the series, to inside lid in blue felt tip marker reading "Barbara Feldon "99"". Comes with a full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
