Get Smart, Again! (ABC, 1989), Cone of Silence. Original studio-built contraption consisting of 2- acrylic domes connected to a ovular acrylic base, each dome with 3- protruding cylinders, each capped with gold-painted resin adornments resembling antennae, with 5- stud-capped ends measuring approx. 18" long to be screwed into the acrylic caps to complete the look of an antennae, and 1- round rubber black ball with a grill-type mesh attachment resembling a microphone affixed to the inside center of the domes. Each dome is affixed with a metal eyelet and a length of cable for practical effects raising and lowering, as seen in the film. Overall base measuring 54" x 22.5" x 31". This contraption, dubbed the "Cone of Silence" despite is ovular and dome shape, was one of the earliest and most beloved gags in the original series, a mainstay prop piece that perfectly encapsulates the gag humor, puns, and double-entendres that became synonymous with Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) and the agents of CONTROL. Get Smart, Again! was a 1989 made-for-TV movie that saw Smart and Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon) reprise their roles and pick up their stories. Exhibiting signs of production handling, wear, and studio repairs to cracked acrylics, along with scuffs, loosened parts, and expected age. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
