Description

Doctor Who (BBC TV, 1963-1989), "Dalek" From the 1993 Documentary "Thirty Years In The TARDIS". Reproduction Dalek constructed ca. 1980s with design based on the 1960s First Doctor (William Hartnell)-era villains. Seen in the 30th Anniversary documentary "Thirty Years in the TARDIS" released in 1993. Measuring 61" x 35" x 53" overall, and constructed from wood and metal interior framework with molded fiberglass exterior, finished in silver with light blue hemispheres. Movable arms, and a movable central eyestalk between two ping-pong ball 'lights' to the dome, and black fabric mesh below dome. The Dalek is on caster wheels, with the dome and midsection removable from the 'body' for transport. The mid-section has no 'slats' which is consistent with the Dalek's early "Dead Planet" style appearing in 1963 and 1964. This Dalek was used by the BBC at the Television Centre during the filming of the documentary "Thirty Years in the TARDIS". The Director Kevin Davis required a faithful dalek prop for a scene set inside a Skaro cell, where Jessica Carney (the real-life granddaughter of William Hartnell "The First Doctor") was hiding from it. Exhibits light production wear including minor repair including to the plunger end. This Lot is located in London, England, and special shipping arrangements via third party shipper will apply. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Collection of The Time Machine Museum of Science Fiction, Bromyard, UK.

Heritage is proud to present over 75 remarkable lots from The Time Machine Museum of Science Fiction. Founded in 2007 and located in Bromyard, the UK museum was one of Herefordshire's hidden gems and represents the Glazzard family's decades-long dedication to preserving and promoting the history of Science Fiction.

A centerpiece of the collection is its peerless Doctor Who archive – over 85% of the museum's holdings - including production-used props and costumes from both the Classic and New eras of the long-running TV show. Iconic villains such as Daleks, Cybermen, and Silurians are represented, in addition to the world's only known Mechanoid commissioned by the BBC for exhibition use.

Beyond Doctor Who, the collection features production-used and related pieces from other landmark franchises, including Star Wars, Star Trek: Voyager, and Red Dwarf - with standout items like an original flying model of Starbug and an original Kryten costume worn by Robert Llewellyn in Season 8.

Before settling in Bromyard, many of these artifacts toured the UK with important Doctor Who exhibitions in Blackpool, Longleat, Llangollen, and Cardiff.

This auction offers a rare opportunity to own a piece of Science Fiction history - each item a testament to the Glazzard family's passion and lifetime of collecting.

The Time Museum Collection auction is unofficial and not endorsed by, licensed by, nor affiliated with the BBC and/or BBC Studios.
