Description

Batman (TCF TV, 1966-1968), Bat Respirator Prop Device. Vintage original prop Bat Respirator breathing device from the original Batman television series, constructed of a gray-painted fiberglass-over-resin faceplate with brass and nickel-plated valve components affixed to the nose and mouth areas and connected to each other by a thick bent metal cable on each side to simulate a portable yet high-tech respirator device. Interior faceplate is coated with a viscous resin for wearer's comfort and a copper wire mouth bit covered with foam. Respirators like this one were used in several episodes of the series, including Season 1, Episode 2, "Smack in the Middle", in which both Batman (Adam West) and Robin (Burt Ward) adorn similar respirators to protect themselves from nitrous oxide released by the Riddler (Frank Gorshin). Faceplate exhibits production wear and age including 1- .75" chip to the paint and other minor scuffing. Respirator components were originally adhered together by glue but have since become unglued, though remain affixed to the faceplate itself with screws. Other signs of tarnish to the brass and nickel components visible. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
