    Description

A Prototype Prop Newspaper from "The Godfather." Paramount, 1972. A faux copy of the 'Daily News' dated "New York, Saturday, December 22, 1945" with the front page headline screaming "Vito Corleone / Feared Murdered / Police Hunt Gunmen," image of Marlon Brando as "Vito Corleone" and further related text appears in the lower left corner, back also has 1945-era "news;" this version being a mock-up for the one actually used in the scene when "Michael" [Al Pacino] and "Kay" [Diane Keaton] see the newspaper on the newsstand, learning about this event that will ultimately change the course of both their lives; the newspaper that "Michael" picks up in the film is a 'Daily Mirror' while this one is a 'Daily News' -- the production likely couldn't use 'Daily News' title for legal purposes.
    15" x 11"

    PROVENANCE:
From the Estate of Charles Hannah who provided a number of 1940s-era cars to "The Godfather" production during the 1971 filming and who visited the set a few times where he was gifted this prop as it wasn't needed for filming.
