A Prop License Plate and Dashboard Display Card from "The Godfather." Paramount, 1972. The license plate made of metal, painted black with yellow lettering reading "NY 45 / 3T40-01," four holes in corners for mounting, not seen in final version of film but was likely used on one of the cars parked outside "Vito Corleone's" [Marlon Brando] house on the day of his daughter's wedding as "Sonny" [James Caan] walks by a crème-colored vehicle with a similar plate before he tells off the FBI agents; the dashboard display made of cardboard, printed with the film's logo, text reads in part "Alfran Prods / Film / Car," annotation handwritten in blue ballpoint ink on the verso reads "Filmed March 8th to Aug 1st / 1971 / 1940 Packard Touring Sedan / Owned by Wm. W. Schnabel / Hawthorne, N.J.;" possibly used during production, but definitely used when "Sonny's" bullet-ridden car was displayed at both the NY and NJ state fairs in 1972.
    License Plate: 6" x 12"; Dashboard Display Card: 7" x 14"

From the Estate of Charles Hannah who provided a number of 1940s-era cars to "The Godfather" production during the 1971 filming and who visited the set a few times where he was gifted this prop as it wasn't needed for filming.
