A Prop Check Made for "Gone With The Wind." Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1939. From "The Atlanta National Bank," dated "Feb. 20th, 1866," made out to the "Tax Collector, Clayton Co., Ga." in the amount of "$300," signed by "Scarlett O'Hara Kennedy," mounted to a decorative background that reads in part "...used.../...to pay off the mortgage;" similar to but not the exact one used in the insert scene that shows "Scarlett O'Hara" [Vivien Leigh] paying taxes for Tara; this one was likely a 'practice one' used by Mozelle Miller [Leigh's stand-in and double] whose hands were used to write this check as Leigh didn't like appearance of hers (plus her handwriting was somewhat illegible); this piece was given directly to SIP, Inc. bookkeeper, Ernie Scanlan, by David O. Selznick. (Please note piece has been mounted to cardboard, is heavily yellowed, and has evident Scotch tape residue among other condition issues.)
