A Life-Sized "Gill Man" Prototype Figurine Related to "Revenge of the Creature." Universal, 1955. Foam rubber applied over an articulated male mannequin, now in a standing position with one hand resting on his hip, hand-painted, depicting the green, scaly monster made famous in the first film [the 1954 Universal cult classic "Creature from the Black Lagoon"]; possibly made as a prototype for how the creature would look in this sequel (as the one in the final version of the film is somewhat more detailed); this piece was originally from the personal collection of Earl Jernigan who was a grip on the film when it was shot in North Central Florida and who kept it after production wrapped, though because he has now passed away, we don't know exactly what this creature's purpose was; Jernigan later became a player in the movie business in Florida as he owned a film developing lab in the area and continued to work on productions shot in the state for many years, including Elvis Presley's 1962 film, "Follow That Dream;" Jernigan took his 10 year-old nephew to the set one day to see the King and interestingly that nephew became quite successful as a rock star himself -- Tom Petty! (Please note this piece has foam loss throughout due to age and it was re-painted about 25 years ago.)
    72" x 27" x 8"; Approximately 40 lbs
