A John Wayne-Related Model Fighter Plane from "Flying Tigers" and "Flying Leathernecks." Republic Studios, 1942, RKO, 1951. A miniature P-40B Warhawk fighter plane, painted olive green with a ferocious 'shark mouth' design at nose, a propeller, the number "70" on either side of the body; created by the legendary Lydecker brothers [Republic's special effects magicians] for use in the combat scenes of the film; coincidentally, this same model was used nine years later in the 1951 film "Flying Leathernecks," also starring Wayne where he was the plane's "pilot." After being "decommissioned," this miniature piece went on display at the Movie World Museum in Buena Park, California where the owner, James Brucker, did a complete restoration of the historic prop; includes a folder showing color snapshots of the restoration process, a 1970s-era poster advertising the Movie World Museum, two black and white stills from "Flying Leathernecks" (with one showing the life-sized plane), and a handwritten letter of provenance regarding the piece. Recent minor restoration, displays as very fine worthy of any collection.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
