Description

"S.S. Minnow" Life Preserver Ring from Season 2 of Gilligan's Island (CBS TV, 1964-1967). S.S. Minnow life preserver ring, measuring 20-½"diameter, with "S.S. MINNOW" in washed out black block letters on a white canvas with a yellow wash and ½" braided rope trim hinged at four points around the perimeter. Painted on the reverse is "S.S. LUVVY" in darker black serifed letters with a silver outline, with water staining. This instantly recognized life-preserver ring was made to dress the boat that was built at CBS Studios for Season 2. It was acquired from a career prop man who worked at CBS Radford Studios where the series was shot and Gilligan's Lagoon remained from its original use in Creature From The Black Lagoon (Universal, 1954). Very Good, as production used, with simulated soiling and water marks.
