Description

Disneyland's Haunted Mansion: New Orleans Square Disneyland Attraction Poster (Walt Disney Productions, 1969-1980s). Grim, grinning ghosts are "dying to meet you" as they grace this silk-screen poster for one of Disneyland's most popular attractions. Disney's first team of Imagineers originally developed the idea for when the park was initially to be located across from the studio. Artists and Imagineers developed the art and story of a peaceful graveyard, with a deteriorated mansion high on a hill, where a ghostly sea captain murdered his nosy bride, and then hung himself. While the exterior was built and attraction was set to open in 1963, the 1964 New York World's Fair and Walt Disney's death in 1966 delayed the project, while more Imagineers contributed to the project. When it finally debuted in 1969, the attraction was an immediate success, helping the Disney Company recover from Walt's untimely death. To this day, the Haunted Mansion is beloved by visitors across the globe, with three official versions, two re-imaginings, and inspiring two movies. Artists Ken Chapman and Marc Davis, the latter of whom worked extensively on the ride, created this poster to advertise the ride, giving viewers a quick peak of the "horrifying sight and sound!" Measures 36" X 54". This poster displays excellently for any fan, showing only light edge wear and a few small chips to the upper border. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
