Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.More Information: Produced and directed by Stanley Kramer, The Pride and the Passion dramatized Napoleon's 1810 campaign in Spain, built around the epic spectacle of a massive cannon hauled across the country by Spanish guerrillas and British forces. Though unevenly received, the picture was a milestone in Hollywood's embrace of widescreen historical epics in the 1950s and is remembered today for its remarkable cast: Grant as the British officer, Sinatra as the Spanish insurgent leader, and Loren in her first English-language starring role. Behind-the-scenes tensions and the much-publicized romantic entanglement between Loren and Grant added to the production's notoriety. Key set photographs and original negatives, including a long portrait sequence of Loren, by Danvers, a respected unit photographer on many mid-century Hollywood epics, provide rare documentation of this ambitious international production and its celebrated stars at a pivotal moment in their careers.
