Vintage gelatin silver glossy 8" x 10" studio release photograph of Bela Lugosi in Murders in the Rue Morgue. The first in a series of terrifying roles where Lugosi plays either a mad scientist or doctor, reprising to great success in The Black Cat in 1934. Production number 315-1-9 in India ink in the negative. Dr Mirakle (Lugosi) at his carnival theatrical where he lectures on the evolution of man (still controversial in 1932) and keeps his pet gorilla Erik who is the source of his ghoulish blood experiments.Auction Info
