Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio Honeymoon Photos. A great set of five b&w 11" x 14" photos of Monroe and DiMaggio during their 1954 honeymoon in Tokyo. The photos were taken by a Pan Am steward named Kashio Aoki, who was given permission to do so by the couple, a privilege they had denied the 250 journalists who were present. The marriage was a tempestuous one that ended after only nine months; however, DiMaggio re-entered her life as a close friend in 1961 as her marriage to Arthur Miller was ending. Concerned for her health, he quit his job as a military post-exchange supplier in August 1962 to ask her to remarry him; she died five days later. In each of the photos, a bandage can be seen on Monroe's right thumb; she and Joe made a stop to visit the troops in Korea, and Marilyn injured her thumb while slicing a cake for some servicemen. The suite is #63 in a limited edition of 75 printed in 2001 in celebration of what would have been the Monroe's 75th birthday, each signed and numbered by Aoki, and all are in Excellent condition. Original photos from original camera negatives. From the Edward Weston Collection.
