Boris Karloff The Mask of Fu Manchu and The Mummy Photos. Karloff assured his horror film royalty via two classic performances. The Mask of Fu Manchu file includes 16 stills of Boris as the unspeakable Fu, including two shots with makeup man Cecil Holland and a wonderful candid of Boris (in Fu regalia) and Myrna Loy (as Fu's sex-crazed daughter, Fah) posing at MGM with the visiting Australian Cricket Team; cricketer-actor C. Aubrey Smith (not in the film) is also in the shot. The Mummy archive offers a very rare original candid of Karloff (in makeup as the 3,700-year-old Ardath Bey) on a Universal stage with the film's designer Willy Pogany, both holding a sketch of the film's leading lady Zita Johann; the shot has a crease in upper right area, but overall is a dazzler. There are also 16 different shots of Karloff in both the Ardath Bey and Im-Ho-Tep makeups (designed and applied by the great Jack P. Pierce -- the latter makeup requiring eight hours of application). Included are six negatives from The Mummy. In Good to Very Good condition and a bounty for classic horror buffs! From the Boris Karloff Estate Collection. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Sara Karloff Sparkman.
