    Boris Karloff Late 1940s Films and Stage Appearance in On Borrowed Time. A repertoire of Karloff roles from the late 1940s. Photos include him as crazy designer van Druten in Lured (one shot with Lucille Ball), Chief Guyasuta in DeMille's Unconquered, Tishomingo in Tap Roots, and the Swami in Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff. Also included is an original 3.5" x 5" shot of Boris and wife Evelyn on the set ofTap Roots (her handwriting in pencil on the reverse) with negatives, an Unconquered shot, two Meet the Killer shots, and six original 8" x 10" shots of Karloff as "Gramps" in the fantasy play On Borrowed Time. (Karloff played the role at the El Patio Theatre in Los Angeles in November of 1946, and Jack Pierce did his makeup.) All pictures have the photographer's stamp on the reverse. The lot also includes a clipping from Hedda Hopper, and a negative of a publicity shot of Karloff with the child actor from the play, Tommy Ivo. In Fine condition. From the Boris Karloff Estate Collection. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Sara Karloff Sparkman.
