Description

Boris Karloff Bride of Frankenstein Archive. Widely hailed as the greatest horror film of the Golden Age, Universal's Bride of Frankenstein (1935), masterfully directed by James Whale, truly set Karloff's Monster amok -- talking, laughing, and climactically weeping as Elsa Lanchester's horrific Bride screamed in his heartbroken face. This archive fully celebrates this beloved classic, with a full-length pose original 8" x 10" of Karloff's Monster, plus 40 separate 8" x 10" stills that include portraits, scenes with co-stars Colin Clive, Elsa Lanchester, Valerie Hobson, Ernest Thesiger, Dwight Frye, O.P. Heggie, et al, and candid and behind-the-scenes shots. A wonderfully comprehensive collection. One particularly unusual item is an original close-up of the dummy of the Monster created for the film, with "Karloff Universal Pictures Star" stamped en verso. Most of the stills are in Very Good condition, and the lot also includes three 8" x 10" negatives and two small negatives. An amazing file from the family of the star whose timeless performance truly made this film a masterpiece. From the Boris Karloff Estate Collection. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Sara Karloff Sparkman.
