Boris Karloff and Wife Evelyn Photos. In April of 1946, Boris Karloff wed Evelyn Hope Helmore, who was his constant companion until his death in 1969. This original 5" x 7" shot taken of Evelyn and Boris, about six months after their marriage, features Karloff in full Frankenstein Monster makeup and costume! Boris signed to play in Goldwyn's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which originally was to feature an episode with Karloff in Monster makeup. Universal gave Goldwyn official permission to use the copyrighted makeup and even sent Jack Pierce to apply it, but, alas, the scene mysteriously never appeared in the release version. Also included is a b&w 8" x 10" and a packet of ten personal snapshots of the newlyweds' home on Mulholland Drive, plus two 8" x 10" stills of him as evil Dr. Hollingshead in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Negative of "Evelyn and Monster" shot and Mitty shot included. In Fine to Very Fine condition. From the Boris Karloff Estate Collection. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Sara Karloff Sparkman.
