Description

Boris Karloff 1950s Portrait and Candid Photos. In some ways, the 1950s provided Karloff's most rewarding decade, as he acted in virtually every area of show business and worked all over the world. This lot is a mix of publicity photos and personal snapshots. It includes 13 candid photos from The Monster of the Island (1953) taken in Italy; publicity photos of the Karloffs in Acapulco posing with a giant swordfish they caught, plus 20 snapshots taken in Acapulco; 19 snapshots taken in Hawaii during the shoot of Voodoo Island (1957), plus color shot of Karloff sitting in director's chair; Boris and Evie in a New York theater, Boris sitting by a CBS camera, on the beach with his pants legs rolled up, attending the premiere of The Glenn Miller Story, chatting with bobbies in London, dining with friends, etc. Pictures range from small snapshots to 8" x 10" stills, with several negatives included, and are in Fine to very Fine condition. From the Boris Karloff Estate Collection. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Sara Karloff Sparkman.
