Anne Shirley Photos, Group of 4. Includes a 5" x 9" b&w photo of a very cherubic young Anne, with handwriting on the back, reading "Dawn O'Day, Stage and Screen Star". Dawn O'Day was Anne's screen name as a child actress until age 16, when she changed her name to Anne Shirley (inspired by the character's name from Anne of Green Gables in which she starred as leading lady, you guessed it, Anne Shirley). The childlike writing on the reverse is in black ink, and is more than likely Anne's own inscription and signature. Also included is a 7" x 5" b&w photo of Shirley with her third husband, writer Charles Lederer, as well as a 4" x 6" of an older Shirley posing with an unknown young man. A framed paper doll set of Shirley from 1936, 11.5" x 9" accompanies the photos. Though Anne retired in 1944, her final film, the great Murder My Sweet, granted her some of the punchiest dialogue in film noir history. With a finale like that, one can excuse the gorgeous young actress for retiring at age 26! In overall Very Good condition with mild age-tanning, a few chipped areas to the framed piece, and slight curving to the photos.
