Description

An Orson Welles Large Collection of Black and White Film Stills from "The Magnificent Ambersons." RKO Radio Pictures, 1942. Approximately 275, all original prints with a glossy finish, each with a purple stamp on the verso reading in part "Copyright, 1941 / RKO Radio Pictures, Inc.," removed from a keybook (as evidenced by the two-hole punch linen binding on the left margin of all), depicting countless images both in front of the camera and 'behind the scenes' of this classic film, many are staged publicity shots showing cast members together, others depict Welles himself on the set directing his troupe, most have never before been seen -- overall, a fantastic collection relating to this now infamous film (due to the changed ending) that Welles adapted, directed, narrated, and produced which starred Joseph Cotten, Dolores Costello, Anne Baxter, Agnes Moorehead, and Tim Holt; included with a letter from Beatrice Welles indicating she consigned this lot directly to Heritage Auctions. (Please note all photographs are 'curled' due to age and about 40 of them have chipping on the right side margin, but the main image is not affected.)
10" x 8"

This film was nominated for four Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Actress in a Supporting Role [Agnes Moorehead], Best Cinematography-Black and White, and Best Art Direction-Interior Decoration, Black and White.
