Description
A Frank Sinatra Massive Collection of Rare or Never-Before-Seen Black and White Snapshots, 1940s. Literally too many to count, but numbering in the hundreds (maybe around 300?), all original print snapshots with mostly a glossy finish, all depicting Sinatra in his very early heyday from about 1943 to about 1948 as he performs on stage, sits in nightclubs, goes to baseball games and boxing matches, walks down the street (in NYC, NJ, and L.A.), hangs with his family and friends, leaves recording studios, etc., many with stamps or handwritten annotations on the verso outlining where he was and who he was with (his mom, first wife, and young children appear in many of these shots), dozens are still affixed to black construction paper pages that were once part of large photo albums, but the pages are now loose-leaf -- but luckily, all the snapshots can be removed as photo corners were used (smart!); primarily taken by fans of the singer who would then make multiple copies and share them with other fan club members all over the country; this collection compiled by Joel Pacilio, the young girl who was president of the Frank-ly Impressed Fan Club based in upstate New York throughout the 1940s and who became friendly with the singer before he became a massive star; also interspersed within this collection are a number of snapshot-sized photos but taken by professional photographers and distributed by news agencies, etc.; many of these images have never before been seen or have not been seen in over 70 years; overall, it's a fascinating collection illustrating what a crazy, jet-set life Sinatra had, even at the very beginning of his career -- seems like the guy just never rested; consigned directly by Pacilio's son. (Please note our catalogue illustration does not do justice to this lot!)Mostly 4" x 2 1/2" though some are slightly bigger or smaller
