Description

A Collection of Rare Black and White Photographs of Movie Stars, Circa 1940s. Approximately 25, all original prints with a matte or glossy finish, all depicting Mary Jessma Wilson [the 1930s-1940s-era radio show host who covered the Hollywood beat from a radio station in St. Petersburg, Florida] with various actors she encountered during her career including (in alphabetical order): Noah Beery, Jr., Ben Blue, George Brent, Wally Brown, Harry Carey (two, both signed by him in black fountain pen ink), Alan Carney, Owen Davis, Jr., Jimmy Durante, Anne Jeffreys, Boris Karloff, Paul Kelly, Peter Lawford, Anna Lee, Anita Louise, Dorothy McGuire, Carmen Miranda (signed by her in black fountain pen ink), Dick Powell, Edward G. Robinson, Martha Scott, Robert Sterling, Robert Walker, Jane Withers, and Keenan Wynn, among a few others; also included are a few shots of Wilson in her home with her collection of signed photographs on display -- overall, rare images that have likely never been seen before from a unique kind of "industry insider."

Interestingly, some of the photographs in this lot show Mary Jessma Wilson and the actors holding the scrapbook from Lot 89099.
