"The End of the Game," Kenya's Tsavo National Park, International Center of Photography, November 1977 to January 1978, 18.5" x 12.75" Original Custom Photographs (2) by Peter Beard. Vintage gelatin silver semi-gloss double-weight 18.5" x 12.75" custom photographs "Tsavo Park," of disintegrating carcasses of elephants in a vast wasteland at Kenya's Tsavo National Park, for "The End of the Game,"1975, by Peter Beard. Beard lived on land adjacent to the farm of Karen Blixen (Isak Dinesen) while photographing the savannah elephants. Beard was commissioned by Rolling Stone to cover the Rolling Stones' "Exile on Main Street Tour" in June-July 1972 and met Southern, who was writing for the Saturday Review. In 1975, Beard began writing a film script based on The End of the Game in collaboration with Southern. Beard's first one-man show, "The End of the Game," at the International Center of Photography, November 1977 to January 1978, included his first giant collages of dead elephants. Reproduced in The End of the Game, Peter H. Beard, 1965, updated 1977, front cover collage, and interior. Fair and Very Good, with heavy corner and vertical creases, paint aggregate, chipping, and missing emulsion (1), missing corner tip (1), edge and corner stress (1), and scattered handling.
