Original hero animatronic King Kong mask from King Kong Original hero animatronic King Kong mask from King Kong. (Dino De Laurentiis, 1976) This is the original hero animatronic King Kong mask built by Carlo Rambaldi and worn by seven-time Academy Award-winner, Rick Baker who controlled the eye and body movements. Three animatronic heads were created for the film, four other heads were made for specific scene work like blowing Jessica Lange dry, smiling, etc. This head was a general head that could do any of the basic Kong expressions. Constructed of foam latex with applied bear skin and fur for hair that was custom made by a wig maker for the production. It features resin teeth and tongue and integral helmet for sitting on the actor's head. The head retains its cable bundles at the rear and snaps for fitment to one of the three full body bear skin suits made for the film. Comes with a LOA from Isidoro Raponi, who operated the levers and controlled the cables during filming.
