To Catch a Thief (Paramount, 1955), Grace Kelly "Frances Stevens" Yellow Day Dress Costume Sketch by Edith Head. Vintage original To Catch a Thief (1955) costume sketch accomplished in gouache, graphite and ink on 14" x 16.5" artist's paper by legendary costume designer Edith Head. Beautiful illustration of Grace Kelly as 'Frances Stevens' in a yellow and white floral patterned daytime dress, worn by her in her mother Jessie Stevens' (Jessie Royce Landis) Monte Carlo hotel room after discovering her jewels have been stolen. Notorious cat burglar John Robie (Cary Grant) who is suspected to have stolen the jewels, is also featured in the film's scene. Written in pencil at the bottom right corner is "Grace Kelly, To Catch A Thief", and signed by Edith Head beneath that notation. Head was nominated for an Oscar for this film for Best Costume Design, Color. Sketch exhibits expected minor age and production handling. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
