The Ren & Stimpy Show (Nickelodeon, 1991-1995), Title Card Image from Episode "Circus Midgets". Original hand-painted production title card from The Ren & Stimpy Show, Season 3, Episode 2, "Circus Midgets", measuring 13.5" x 11.25", featuring oil and gouache over a watercolor background of the shivering chihuahua and his large-nosed feline sidekick in circus costumes, facing off against a pair of jumping beans. Painted on artist's paper mounted to white Bristol board with three peg holes for registration, the piece includes handwritten notations reading, "TITLE CARD" and "CIRCUS MIDGETS" along the lower edge. In this episode, the card appears with circus music as credits are overlaid on the image. Known for its irreverence, The Ren & Stimpy Show featured these highly detailed title paintings before each episode. One of the flagship cartoons that launched Nickelodeon's original animation lineup, the show ran for five seasons and quickly became a hit for its madcap adventures, grotesque close-ups, and catchy, ridiculous songs. Exhibits what appears to be light white paint in the lower right corner and a light mark across Stimpy's mouth. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
