Description

The Honeymooners (CBS TV, 1955-1956), Pair of Signed Lithographs by Al Hirschfeld. Pair of signed and numbered lithograph prints depicting the four main characters from The Honeymooners (CBS TV, 1955-1956) by legendary American caricaturist Al Hirschfeld (1903-2003), consisting of (2) 23.25" x 17.5" prints with (1) matted and framed under plexiglass and numbered 129/175 with black wooden frame measuring 31" x 25.25" and (1) unframed print of the same numbered 88/175. Both prints signed "HIRSCHFELD" in pencil to lower right and numbered in pencil to lower left. Al Hirschfeld was one of the most popular and influential caricaturists of all time, known for designs that spanned Broadway, Hollywood, magazine covers, and murals. Discerning eyes will be able to find the name of his daughter, "Nina", hidden within part of the prints, as was his custom trademark. Both prints exhibiting some signs of age with unframed piece relatively untouched with rich, crème-coloring to the paper and crisp, unblemished line work, and signs of bumping to lower left and upper right corners. Framed litho shows some smudging and fading from exposure, though not examined out of frame. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
