Description
The Great Race (Warner Bros., 1965), Costume Sketch of Natalie Wood as "Maggie DuBois" for Arctic Sequence by Edith Head. Vintage original costume sketch of Maggie Dubois (Natalie Wood) in a charming Arctic-weather, Eskimo-style ensemble for The Great Race (1965). Accomplished in pencil, ink and gouache on 12" x 18" leaf of peach-colored artist's paper. The sketch shows Wood wearing a long coat with a fur-trimmed hood and fur treatment at the cuffs. The on-screen coat is worn in a scene with co-stars The Great Leslie (Tony Curtis), Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) and Max (Peter Falk) when they are all taking shelter from a storm in one of the automobiles involved in the New York-Paris auto race. Noted by Head "Natalie Wood" and "The Great Race" at left side, and boldly signed by Head at lower right. Exhibits only very slight age and production handling including a tiny bump and tear at lower margin, plus some expected perforation loss at extreme upper margin from pad removal. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
