The Final Countdown Storyboard Original Art Sequence of 18 (United Artists, c. 1980). "This is the U.S.S. Nimitz... Where the hell are we?" Telling the story of a modern aircraft carrier that is thrown back in time to hours before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, 1980's The Final Countdown was a commercial success staring Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen. Presented are 18 hand-drawn original storyboards by production artist Nikita Knatz (1940-2010), rendered in mixed media on 11" x 8.5" sheets of vellum tracing paper. Knatz was one of the most in-demand storyboard artists in modern cinema for over 40 years, having worked on Academy Award-winning motion pictures, box-office hits and large-scale productions such as Predator, Batman Returns, Spider-Man, The Thomas Crown Affair, Weird Science and many more. These incredible storyboards depict the scene in which the ship enters the stormy vortex that delivers them to 1941, and they measure approximately 5.75" x 2.5" per sheet. The sheets themselves show varying degrees of handling and edge wear with some showing tearing and/or punch holes. This lot contains one sheet that is a printed image on bond paper. These incredible storyboards contain camera and production notes, and the condition overall is Very Good.
