Description

Sabrina (1954), Audrey Hepburn "Sabrina Fairchild" Evening Gown Costume Sketch by Hubert de Givenchy. Original Givenchy illustration accomplished in ink on artist's paper of Sabrina Fairchild (Audrey Hepburn) in the most famous look from the film-a long white column evening gown with attached skirt, black ruffle trim, and long evening gloves. The illustration is missing much of the black floral embellishment the real-life gown featured. Signed by the legendary fashion designer on the right side of the illustration. Measures 12.75" x 19.75". Sabrina wears the gown to a party on the night she returns to America from Paris. She hopes to woo the heart of her life-long crush, David Larrabee (William Holden), but ends the night drinking champagne and dancing on the tennis court with his brother, Linus (Humphrey Bogart). The design also appears in many of the film's advertisements and posters. The film's costumes caused much contention between Edith Head and Givenchy, both claiming they designed the lead's clothes for the film. Edith Head won one of her eight Academy Awards for her work on the film. Exhibits little to no wear and age. Artwork executed by Hubert de Givenchy and gifted to Franca Price in the 2000s. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the esteemed collection of Franca Price, who served on the board of The Audrey Hepburn Foundation and was director of the Audrey Hepburn Pavilion in Switzerland.

More Information: Lots 89195 to 89232 come from the esteemed collection of Franca Price, a leading figure in preserving Audrey Hepburn's legacy. Ms. Price served on the board of The Audrey Hepburn Foundation and was director of the Audrey Hepburn Pavilion, a Swiss museum dedicated to honoring the life and work of the iconic actress, humanitarian, and fashion muse. Audrey Hepburn remains one of the most beloved figures of the 20th century— an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Tony Award-winning actress whose unforgettable roles in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, and My Fair Lady captivated audiences around the world. Beyond her cinematic achievements, Hepburn devoted the latter part of her life to humanitarian work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, for which she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her tireless advocacy for children in need. Equally renowned for her timeless style, Hepburn formed a legendary friendship and creative partnership with French couturier Hubert de Givenchy. Their collaboration not only helped define her elegant public image but also left a lasting imprint on the worlds of fashion and film, elevating both to new artistic heights. Franca Price's close association with Hepburn-focused institutions underscores a profound personal commitment to celebrating this extraordinary woman's influence. The items presented here offer a rare and intimate glimpse into that enduring legacy.
