Ponyo (Studio Ghibli, 2008), Art Collection of Ghibli Museum Limited Edition "Ponyo" and "Sosuke" Cel. Original framed hand-painted and numbered limited-edition cel. Frame measures 18" x 12" with a plexiglass window, a 2" border embossed in the lower right reading, "Art Collection of Ghibli Museum hand-painted cel", and a 12.5" x 7" image area of the cel. The hand-painted cel is presented on a high-resolution inkjet print of the original background and features the titular Ponyo and friend, Sosuke, gleefully aboard a miniature boat - marked "VI - 13/20" in ink on the lower right corner. Also included with the lot is the original cardboard packing box measuring 18.5" x 13.5" with an "Art Collection of Ghibli Museum hand-painted cel" sticker across the top and product information sticker and stringed loop fastening on the right side. Sold exclusively at the Studio Ghibli Museum Gift Shop in Mitaka, Japan, these limited-edition pieces are highly sought after by collectors of animation history. Founded in 1985 by the renowned animator and filmmaker, Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli is responsible for bringing to life some of the most beloved animated classics of all time, earning praise around the world including Best Animated Academy Awards for Spirited Away (2001) and The Boy and the Heron (2024).
