Norma Jean and Marilyn Storyboards Original Art Group of 14 (HBO, c. 1995). "Marilyn Monroe was our fantasy. Norma Jean was her reality." -tagline for Norma Jean and Marilyn. From the made-for-TV biographical film, here are 14 original storyboards by the hand of artist David Russell. This is a fantastic sequence rendered in black and purple ink with blue pencil on 7 sheets of bond paper. Deftly telling the story of Marilyn as she hails for assistance due to car trouble, these tight drawings clearly convey narrative with no use of dialogue and clever use of camera movement, composition and timing. David Russell demonstrates masterful knowledge of filmmaking, and his experience clearly shows. He has created storyboard work for massive hits like Batman, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Moulin Rouge, The Thin Red Line and many, many more. The drawings measure 5.25" x 4" on 8.5" x 11" sheets (two drawings per sheet), and they show minor handling and edge wear. They contain camera and production notes, and the condition overall is Very Good. From the David Russell Collection.
