Mia Farrow Rosemary's Baby Costume Sketch. Released in 1968, Roman Polanski's chilling adaptation of Ira Levin's novel quickly became a horror classic. Farrow starred as Rosemary, a naive young housewife and mother-to-be who falls under the thrall of a satanic cult. This 12" x 18.5" costume sketch by Academy Award-winning costumer Anthea Sylbert features a design for the maternity dress worn by Farrow in the film for scenes late in Rosemary's pregnancy. The dress is one of several mini-style dresses designed by Sylbert for the waifish actress, and it features an empire waist bodice and flowing skirt in shades of yellow with floral print. The dresses and Farrow's pixie haircut set trends in the late 1960s. The sketch is in ink and watercolor on illustration paper, has been signed by Sylbert, and features a 4" x 7" fabric swatch, color notation, and a note that the dress is to be worn over a "7 month pad." It is in Very Fine condition and has been stapled to 17" x 25" illustration board and is accompanied by a b&w 8" x 10" still of Farrow in a similar dress in the film.
