    Description

    Masada Nighttime View of Rome Matte Painting (ABC, 1981). Matte painting accomplished in mixed media on 57.5" x 35.5" glass in pine frame. Painted by Albert Whitlock.

    This matte painting is the establishing shot of Rome when General Lucius Flavius Silva (Peter O' Toole) returned briefly, was delegated Governor of the province of Judaea, and ordered to siege Masada. The artist extended the sky in the painting to accommodate a lengthier left-to-right cloud split for the scene.

    In Very Good Plus condition exhibiting expected production wear, minor scuffing, and soiling. COA from Heritage Auctions.
