Le Mans Concept Drawing Signed by Nikita Knatz and Production Photographs Group of 8 (Solar Productions/Cinema Center Films c. 1970-71). "This isn't just a thousand to one shot. This is a professional bloodsport. And it can happen to you. And then it can happen to you again." The 1971 action sports classic Le Mans starring Steve McQueen is an almost documentary-like account of the most notorious auto race Le Mans in France. The film was shot on location on the Le Mans circuit between June and November 1970, including during that season's actual 24 Hours of Le Mans race in mid-June. Presented are production photographs taken during the filming, featuring many shots of Steve McQueen looking cool as ever on set. In addition, this collection features a stunning concept drawing of the Gulf-Porsche 917K and camera rigging, rendered in mixed media on faded bond paper and signed by the great production artist Nikita Knatz (1940-2010). This beautiful piece is dated 1970. The drawing shows handling and edge wear with a fold down the center and tearing in the upper left corner. It measures 13.5" x 10", and it is framed under glass with an overall frame size of 17" x 13". Two photographs measure 9.5" x 9.5", two are 10" x 13", and the remaining three are 12" x 10.5", 13.25" x 9" and 13.25" x 10.5". They show minor handling and edge wear, and one has a small tear in the lower right corner. The condition overall is Good. The frame is sold as is.
