    Edith Head (1987-1981) won a record eight Academy Awards for Best Costume Design, and received 35 nominations for Best Costume Design during her career. She still holds the record for the Most Oscars Won by a Woman - 8. She and Alfred Hitchcock (who was considered as the master of suspense) had a lengthy, successful working relationship. She designed the costumes for eleven Hitchcock films beginning with Rear Window (1954) and continuing through the his last film Family Plot (1976). Edith Head costume designs are highly prized.
