Judy Garland Easter Parade Costume Sketch by Irene. A 12" x 18" color costume design sketch for a grey-and-blue dress worn by Judy Garland in the vaudeville montage from the 1948 musical Easter Parade. The sketch and design are by Irene Gibbons, usually listed in the credits as simply "Irene," the executive designer at MGM Studios from 1942-48. While there, she designed clothes and costumes for Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Esther Williams, Liz Taylor, Jane Powell, and, of course, Judy Garland. Fabric swatches have been stapled to the upper right corner, and the sketch is signed by Irene and initialed by Garland and director Charles Walters. Numerous notations in pencil can be found on the reverse. It is in Very Fine to Excellent condition with very mild edge wear and an ink stain on the back (does not affect the notations), and is accompanied by a b&w 8" x 10" photo of Garland wearing the dress in the movie opposite co-star Fred Astaire.
