Harry Thomas Plan 9 From Outer Space Concept Art with Magazine. During the science fiction boom of the '50s, makeup man Harry Thomas was associated with some of the most memorable filmmakers of the time -- including notorious director Ed Wood. After a disagreement with Wood while working on the infamous Plan 9, Thomas insisted that his name be removed from the movie's credits. (As a result, only his assistant, Tom Bartholomew, is mentioned.) This 11.5" x 18" pencil on paper sketch by Thomas, signed and dated November 1993, features a concept design for the alien played by Dudley Manlove in the movie; a handwritten caption in the lower left corner reads: "This is what the aliens from 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' should have look [sic] like". The drawing is accompanied by the September 1997 issue of Scary Monsters Magazine, which features a full-page reproduction of the sketch published along with a memorial article. The artwork is in Very Fine condition with mild toning and some mild wear that includes small creases and fold separations, and has been matted and framed to 18" x 22". Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
