Description

Hair (United Artists, 1979), Original Movie Poster Key Artwork by Bob Peak. Published as the final movie poster art for various foreign campaigns for MiloŠ Forman's film adaptation of the unexpected Broadway musical hit Hair, this original poster art by the incomparable Bob Peak screams "I Got Life."

Produced at the height of Peak's career, the same year as Apocalypse Now, this artwork shows the breadth of Peak's talent. Both posters are direct responses to the Vietnam War, Apocalypse Now focused on the toll the war took on enlisted and drafted soldiers, while Hair focused on draft resisters and the counterculture that emerged during this period of intense societal change.

Featuring Treat Williams as John Berger and Beverly D'Angelo as Sheila Franklin, this image foregrounds the joy that is at the heart of Hair and the sense of possibility that drives the story.

Measuring 39.5" x 33.5" and executed in mixed media on canvas, this bright and brilliant original artwork has only the most minimal spots of wear, with light rubbing and displays wonderfully. Frame exhibits small chips from display. It is signed B. Peak lower right and framed to 49" x 42.5". Not examined outside of frame.
