George Barris "Surf Woody" Design Sketch. A classic Barris design, the "Surf Woody" was a worldwide sensation when it made its debut in 1965 during the peak of surf culture. This 20" x 15" pencil-and-watercolor sketch on drawing paper features an early design of the car, drawn by one of Barris' design artists circa 1964. The sketch features a "Barris Kustom City" stamp in the lower right corner, and is in Fine to Very Fine condition with mild wear, soiling, wrinkling, and toning. The adhesive on tape that secured the drawing to its cardboard backing has deteriorated with age, and as such it is no longer securely fastened to the backing. From the George Barris Archive.
