    Description

Game of Thrones "Funeral at the Iron Islands" Storyboards by William Simpson Group of 5 (HBO, 2011). After being murdered by his presumed dead brother Euron, Balon Greyjoy is put to rest in a watery grave, as is the custom of the Ironborn. Presented here is the original storyboard art from this scene by storyboard and concept artist William Simpson. His work was integral to the early development in HBO's adaptation George R. R. Martin's fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Offered in this lot is the four-page storyboard for season 6, episode 603, scene 3.3 part 2. In it are 17 hand-drawn panels measuring approximately 5.25" x 3" across five 11.75" x 16.5" pages. Each panel is rendered in graphite along the left side of the page with dialogue and direction to the right. The scene depicts Yara, Aeron and other Ironborn setting Balon's coffin adrift in the Sunset Sea. Each page bears the artist's signature and seal in the lower right corner. Handwritten notes by Mr. Simpson on back of the first sheet describe the scene. This is one-of-a-kind collection of original storyboards from a pivotal moment in the Game of Thrones. The art shows handling and edge wear, with folding on the edges. Condition is Very Good. COA from Heritage Auctions.
