Game of Thrones "Aftermath" Dothraki Concept Drawing (HBO, 2011). George R. R. Martin's fantasy book series features many stories that did not make it into the HBO TV series. In an effort to fill in the gaps for fans not familiar with the books, the Game of Thrones Blu-ray DVD box set includes "Histories & Lore" animated vignettes in its extras section. Narrated by cast members, these 3-minute videos utilize original concept art with limited animation to explain the backstories not featured in the show. Presented here is an original concept drawing of Khal Temmo who lies dead in the aftermath of the epic defeat of 25,000 Dothraki warriors by the 3000 Unsullied soldiers hired to protect the city of Qohor. Jorah tells this story in an effort to convince Daenerys to enlist the Unsullied in her quest. It was drawn by Game of Thrones storyboard and concept artist William Simpson and can be seen at the 3:11 mark in "Game of Thrones: Unsullied - Histories & Lore - Season 3" on You Tube. The incredibly detailed graphite rendering is on 16.5" x 11.75" Bristol board and is initialed by the artist in the lower right corner and titled "Aftermath." Mr. Simpson began his career illustrating for comics such as Batman, Judge Dredd and Indiana Jones. He is credited with developing much of the look and feel of this hit TV series. The one-of-a-kind piece shows handling, edge wear and some light smudges. Condition is Very Good. COA from Heritage Auctions.
