Batman Storyboards Original Art Group of 2 (Warner Brothers c. 1989). "What's the matter, Batman... Don't you recognize your old pal Jack?" The Joker (portrayed by Jack Nicholson) menaces Batman in these incredible original storyboard drawings by artist David Russell. Featuring closeups of Batman's greatest nemesis the Joker in dramatic lighting, these drawings create not only a sense of dramatic timing but also a sinister mood. David Russell refers to storyboarding as "directing on paper," and as a storyboard artist, he demonstrates extensive knowledge of the production of film. His expertly crafted storyboards create a strong look and feel of a film, but they also guide the process of filmmaking economically. His creative stamp can be visibly seen in virtually every film on which he works, from Who Framed Roger Rabbit to Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. These drawings are rendered in ink and whiteout on 8.5" x 11" bond paper. They each measure 7" x 4" on a single sheet. The paper shows minor handling and edge wear, and it contains dialogue and production notes. The drawings are numbered 85 and 85A, and the condition overall is Very Good. From the David Russell Collection.
