After Giambologna (Flemish 1529-1608), a Monumental Patinated Bronze Figure of Mercury, Late 20th Century. One of the most well known statues from the Renaissance era, this Mercury statue is a copy after a celebrated design by Giambologna created around 1564.  Giambologna designed this statue as part of a fountain for the Medici in the Villa Medici in Rome. The head represented below symbolized the figure being "exhaled, purified, unburdened."  Mercury was a messenger and a god of trade, profit, and commerce.  In this example Mercury leaps forward on one leg while gracefully pointing upward with his arm, creating an elegant silhouette. This example created in the late 20th century was the fountain at the entrance of Stallone's Beverly Hills home and was also on display at his Miami home.
    Approximately: 135" x 70" x 20"

"I've always been a fan of mythology and came across this amazing sculpture many years ago. I first had it on display in the gardens at my house in Miami and then I shipped it out to California where it's been in my entryway fountain area for the past twelve years."
