Description

A Mae West Set of Fan Art, 1938, 1960s. The first rendered in graphite on paper, depicting a detailed image of the star, signed in the lower right corner "To a swell / person / by / Philip Noyer / 1938;" evidently liked enough by the star to have it framed and to keep it for over 40 years; the second a small oil on board, depicting a colorful image of West in her heyday, signed in the lower right corner "Ness;" included with four other pieces the star framed (and likely hung in her apartment) including: 1) a 1930s magazine page tear-out featuring West and poodles; 2) a black and white photograph of a horse West owned; 3) artwork depicting a mystical sea-faring image; and 4) a 1940s-era charcoal portrait of a man; included with a signed 'Letter of Provenance' from John West, Mae's nephew.
Mostly all framed: 26" x 19" and smaller
