    Description

A Mae West Famous Plaster Statue, Circa 1935 Depicting the star in a classical pose in the nude, her left arm raised above her head and a drape resting on her right arm, almost identical to the one in the previous lot except the hairstyle (which has bangs) and the face (which is more narrow), round base reads "Portrait / Mae West / By Gladys Lewis Bush 5c;" included with a color snapshot showing the piece in situ at West's famous Ravenswood apartment on Rossmore Avenue in Los Angeles; included with a signed 'Letter of Provenance' from John West, Mae's nephew. (Please note this piece has been repaired over the years and a small crack is evident at the waist area, but it still looks great on sight.)
    Height: 29"

Interestingly, West had these two almost identical statues commissioned, though it's not known if they were both made at the same time or years part. Please see the description of the previous lot for more detail.
